Googling the flu

Hey all,

This is a super interesting article from today's NY Times about how google is using keyword tracking to anticipate flu outbreaks.

Matt - after you posted this article, and then brought it up in discussion during our with Ms. Silvestre from Kaiser, this issue and topic has come up repeatedly in several classes and discussions.

And b/c of you - I was able to contribute to the discussion, or at the very least nod b/c I understood what was being said (and not fake it like i miiiight do sometimes).

They're tracking the flu, but it does get me thinking about what other sort of things could be helpful to track in different realms or areas. I'm sure law enforcement etc could use this feature to track criminals or illegal activity on the net, but I wouldnt be surprised if this leads to a slippery slope and we find this issue being deliberated in the halls of the Supreme Court - by Justice Ingram himself.
